The braking system in your vehicle is an essential part of your driving experience. Some don’t release that the brakes are a part of a system; that system includes the power brake booster. The job of the power brake booster is to give power assistance to the actual braking system.
When this is in place correctly you don’t have to put a lot of force on the brakes for them to engage as they should. Found between the master cylinder and the brake pedal, you never want your power brake booster to fail on you. There are some symptoms that you can look for should this ever begin to happen to you.
Your vehicle’s brake booster is an essential part of the braking system. You want to make sure you’re looking for the following symptoms to know if your power brake booster is beginning to fail.
One of the very first indications that your brake booster is failing that you may notice can be having difficulty pushing in your brake pedal. This is something that you may notice over time or it could be abrupt. Also, the brake pedal will not go back to the position it was in prior to you applying pressure.
If you notice that is taking a long time for your vehicle to stop this is a sign as well. This will happen when you’re not getting the power boost that is needed for you to properly stop your vehicle.
If you’re applying your brakes and your engine stalls, it’s another sign your brake booster may be failing. When it’s failing excess vacuum can be drawn from the engine. You will feel like the engine will stall when you press in on your brakes and the idle can drop.
If you’re driving and you notice any of these symptoms you need to immediately get things checked out. You never want to be in a position that gets worse for you. If you need your power brake booster repaired, give our auto repair shop a call today!
